For any fan of military aircraft, there's really no need to talk about the P-51 Mustang. Sporting its usual dynamic lines, the Mustang seen in the foreground here over a beautiful cloud bank at sunset is "Cripes A'Mighty", the last plane to be flown by the top ace in the type, Major George Preddy. His kill record of 26.83 enemy planes includes the odd fraction due to a number of 1/2 and 1/3 kill credits that he was awarded. Sadly, Preddy was killed in action by friendly AA fire on Christmas Day, 1944, just 25 years old.
This original painting is acrylic on heavy art board. The board measures 54cm x 39cm, and the painted area is approximately 45cm x 33cm.
